Apollo Hosting Review

Apollo has been offering web hosting services since 1999 and has been in the web hosting business for 10 years now. Based out of Austing, Texas, Apollo Hosting offers shared web hosting as well as VPS, domain registration, SSL certificate and a vareity of services.

A quick review of Apollo's shared web hosting packages make it very clear that their offerings are probably not the best when compared to many other web hosting companies. The started package that comes for $3.95/month ( you need to pay for 24 months together) gives you just 50GB of disk space and 500 GB of data transfer. While this is definitely sufficient for a general small website why would someone settle for this package when there are other companies offering unlimited disk space and bandwidth for similar price. Also, if you want to pay just for one year the same package comes for $4.95/month.

Apollo do offer Ulimited disk space- Unlimited bandwidth package as well, howvere, that comes for $6.95/month ( only if you pay for 24 months together) or $7.95/month under annual hosting contract. This package allows you to host unlimited free domains and comes with 50 MySQL database compared to just one domain and one MySQL in the Starter Plan.

While most other features are quite standard for Apollo Hosting and there are not many points of differences between their Starte Plan and Prime Plan besides the ones mentioned above, a few other previleges of Prime Plan includes, Unlimited email addresses ( 1 in Starter Plan) and Multiple Ecommerce softwares ( OS Commerce, ShopSite, AgoraCart, Paypal etc ) while the Starter Plan just gets a Shared SSL as  part of Ecommerce features.

Besides the standard tutorial and an extensive help center they offer 24x7 phone, chat and email support which is typically good to meet the requirements of standard clients.

A lot of softwares for blogging, Content management systems, Forums and Photogalleries are also included in both the packages. Also the packages offer a $50 Adwords Credit and $25 Yahoo sponsored search credit.

Overall, Apollo Web Hosting is probably not a bad option particualrly if you have multiple websites to host under their Prime Plan, however, there might be more competitive prices offered by some equally good hosting providers.
